Microplates,
also known as Culture Plates are commonly used to grow or cultivate
microorganisms (bacteria, fungus, virus etc) in laboratories. These plates
are specially designed so as to induce deliberate microorganism growth.
These plates are available in standardized size and have 96 containers or
wells.
The plates are constructed from high quality plastic like polypropylene and
are solvent and chemical resistant. Thermoplastic rubber is also sometimes
used for constructing laboratory microplates.
