A
Galvanoscope is a popularly used laboratory device/instrument for detecting
electric currents, indicated by the deflection of a magnetic needle. This
instrument shows the presence of current and its magnitude. The instrument
is especially used to detect and measure feeble currents.
A simple galvanoscope consists of a single turn of wire to create a
magnetic field which in turn moves the magnetic needle. The instrument can
be made more sensitive by increasing the number of turns of wire in the loop
surrounding the needle.
Use of Galvanoscope
The instrument has application in fields including:
- Educational laboratories
- Electrical equipment
