Flow Injection Analyzer makes use of an analytical technique which is
based on microfluidic manipulation of samples and reagents. The
instruments are widely used in the fields of environment and clinical
analysis. These instruments are designed, keeping in mind the
portability, analytical robustness, sensitivity and ease of use. Working Principle
A flow injection analyser injects a small, fixed volume of a liquid sample using an injection device into a liquid carrier which flows through a narrow bore tube. The sample zone is dispersed into the carrier, initially through convection, and later on through axial and radial diffusion, while it is transported along the tube under laminar flow. Reagents are sometimes added at various confluence points and these liquids mix with the sample to produce detectable species which can be sensed by any one of a variety of flow-though detection devices.
