A Barometer is an important engineering device used in various applications. This instrument is widely used for measuring atmospheric pressure. The instrument provides high precision readings for students and professionals.
Types of
Barometers
- Liquid Barometers: This type of barometer can further
be classified into water and mercury based barometers. Mercury
based barometers have been more successful than the water based
barometers.
- Aneroid Barometers: This type of barometer makes use
of a small and flexible metal box, also known as an aneroid
cell. The cell is filled with air and tightly sealed, some of
the air is then removed and changes in the external air pressure
cause the cell to either expand or contract. This movement
causes the mechanical lever to move, thereby measuring the
atmospheric pressure.
