Next, flip the collars on the lower part of the Bunsen burner so as to open the holes within the burner slightly.

Now, light a match stick to flame up the
bunsen burner. Be careful while doing it and make sure the fingers are way away from the flame to avoid all kind of burns.

Turn on the gas tap to ensure a gas flow in the burner for constant flame. Switch it on by pushing down and turning the nozzle to make it parallel with the gas tap or tubing.

Now light up the burner by moving a match over the top of the burner to light it. This has to be done very carefully so as to make sure that the flame doesn't finish off before the Bunsen burner lights.
